The Campbell sideboard (pictured right) is so-named for a customer who conceived
its design for his own home. At Chilton, we welcome custom orders. Our workshop
produces hundreds of custom furniture pieces annually. Our Maine craftsmen can make
anything you desire. We might even name a piece of furniture after you.
Chilton salespeople can assist in designing the elusive item you've been searching
for or dreaming of. Email, fax, or bring in a sketch or a photo of what you have
in mind, and we’ll quote a finished price. Many options are available, including
types of wood, edge treatments, drawer styles and slides, stain and paint choices.
We can help you make these decisions by showing you our floor samples and explaining
each option.
Natural Finishes
Our cherry furniture can be finished without any stain. With that option, the wood
will darken with time to a beautiful, rich color. We sometimes use a toner to give
the surface an immediate aged beauty without waiting for the color to mature. Our
top coat is a durable finish, resistant to water stains. The patina is pleasing,
and we can provide any degree of sheen on special orders. Chilton also offers painted
finishes as well as a combination of paint and stain, which is very popular.
Dovetailed Drawers
Shaker craftsmen were noted for their fine work. Dovetailed corner joints provide
exceptionally strong drawers that are also attractive in appearance. We offer a
number of options in drawer design, including inset, overlaid, pocket, and tapered.
We can provide metal drawer glides or construction that is more traditional.
