Chromatic Perception II
Artist Scott Bowe was born and lived in Fairfield County, Connecticut, before relocating in his early teens with his family to Maine where he attended Waynflete School. After graduation, Scott discovered his passion for art while attending Semester at Sea, where he met local artists in Venezuela, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan. During these stopovers he would always talk to the artists to study their techniques and understand their perspectives and motivations for creating their work. These experiences gave him the confidence and inspiration to incorporate mixed media in many of his own pieces.
Scott views painting as story telling. The stories Scott tells are bold, kinetic, and colorful. His work has an almost musical quality to it where the rhythms of the colors move and swirl like notes played from a guitar, always evolving and shifting. Scott's greatest joy is watching someone stop to ponder a piece he has created. It is in those moments that he feels connected to the emotions we as humans all share.
Scott lives in Portland, Maine with his wife and two children. His works are featured in both Chilton showrooms, as well as in the Scott Bowe gallery in Freeport, Maine.
