The frame for the High Mast Bed is a modern interpretation of a classic four poster bed. Built in solid hard maple with a wax finish, the bed is an original Chilton design with clean lines and turned legs shaped to resemble the front legs of the Alfred Village rocking chair, an authentic Shaker chair currently sold only at Chilton and the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village.
For a seaside home or any nautical setting, our High Mast Bed is also available with a repurposed authentic sailcloth headboard, made in collaboration with Sea Bags Maine. The sailcloth headboard is affixed securely to the headpost "masts" with nickel grommets and marine rope, giving the headboard a distinct, nautical look. Each sail is unique - please call to inquire about current availability.

Built to Order
Standard build times are approximately 10-12 weeks. Due to higher demand, current build times are approximately 14-16 weeks, plus delivery.
A Standard bed frame typically comes with 3-5 "slats", or pieces of wood that lay across the side rails of the bed frame. These slats are designed to hold a traditional box spring, or foundation, which sits under a mattress to provide support.
A Platform bed has either plywood or sufficient slats running down the length of the bed frame to directly support a mattress without the need for a box spring.
Platform beds typically cost a little more than Standard ones, but they avoid the need to purchase a box spring and allow for a more modern, lower profile look.
Chilton offers nation-wide white glove delivery service, which means that your furniture will be carefully blanket wrapped, transported to your home, carried inside, and assembled, as needed.
Your charge is a flat rate based upon delivery distance from Maine, and includes an unlimited number of pieces (a particularly good value for larger orders). For single item orders of smaller pieces, please call to inquire whether common carrier shipping is available.
We are currently offering a free or reduced delivery offer for larger orders. Please see details below.*
"The delivery service was wonderful. All the furniture was wrapped to protect it from any damage. Al and Jason did a great job unwrapping and carefully assembled and set everything up where we wanted it ... They did a great clean up afterwards. They made sure that we were happy with the furniture and its positioning before they would leave. Thank you!"- Tom & Cathy K.
