Delivery & Pickup


At Chilton, all furniture is available for in-store pick up. Please contact the store at which you made your purchase, Scarborough at 866-883-3366 or Freeport at 888-510-6300, to arrange a pick up time. Most furniture from Chilton is unwrapped and unboxed. Please bring blankets, padding and other appropriate protection for use when transporting your new furniture. You can also borrow Chilton padded blankets for a refundable deposit of $30 per blanket.  If you would like to use Chilton padded blankets, please call ahead to ensure availability.


Chilton uses professional "white glove" delivery services for all in-home deliveries. White glove service means that your furniture will be carefully blanket wrapped and transported to your home by our delivery partners, all of whom specialize in fine furniture delivery.  Your furniture will be carried into your home and assembled, as needed.  There will be no packaging materials to dispose of.  Smaller items such as Home Accessories are typically shipped via UPS.

Once your order is ready to be delivered, Chilton will notify you that your order has been released to one of our delivery companies. Any outstanding balance owed must be paid at this time.  Deliveries can take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks depending on final destination. As your delivery date approaches, Chilton or our delivery company will contact you to schedule a convenient time for you to receive your furniture.


Although some orders can be filled from existing inventory, most of our furniture is built to order.  Build times typically range from 4  to 12 weeks, depending on the particular item, followed by 1 to 6 additional weeks for white glove delivery.  For planning purposes, please assume a delivery time of 6 to 18 weeks from the time you place your order, although most orders are delivered in 8 to 12 weeks.  We will send you a more precise estimate in a confirmation email after receiving your order.  For questions about delivery times for a particular order, please call us toll free during business hours at 866-883-3366.


Prior to delivery, identify where you would like your furniture to go, taking measurements as necessary. Identify the most logical entry point to carry the furniture into your home and the easiest path to carry it to where you would like it placed.  This will ensure a smooth delivery process. 

Once your furniture has been unwrapped, please inspect it carefully.  You will be asked to sign a Delivery Receipt acknowledging the receipt and inspection of the merchandise with no damage to the goods or to the premises upon completion of delivery, unless otherwise noted. It is very unusual for blanket wrapped furniture to be damaged, but in the event your furniture has been damaged, please note it on your Delivery Receipt and call Chilton immediately at 866-883-3366 so that we can assess and determine the best solution for you.  You may be asked to email digital photos to help us determine the best course of action.

Non-Standard Deliveries

Standard white glove delivery includes carrying your furniture into your home and into the room in which you intend to use it, either on a ground floor or up one flight of stairs.  Non-standard deliveries include deliveries requiring furniture to be carried up two or more flights of stairs or deliveries requiring moving or removing existing furniture. If you anticipate the need for these services, please call ahead to Chilton at 866-883-3366 so that we can alert our delivery company and let you know whether additional charges will apply. 

Services such as attaching items to walls or ceilings, or hoisting furniture through windows or over balconies will likely need to be arranged through a local contractor.  Please call us at 866-883-3366 if you have any questions about non-standard delivery requests. Please note that Chilton's delivery services do not remove used mattresses.

Island Deliveries

For island deliveries that require ferry service, our delivery fee only covers delivery to the ferry terminal or an island delivery service on the mainland.   It is the customers responsibility to make arrangements with the ferry service or island delivery company for in home delivery.  For online orders please fill in ferry address on island delivery company address in the delivery address fields.

Delivery Charges

At Chilton, furniture delivery charges are a flat rate based on the distance of your delivery from Maine. Our delivery rates apply regardless of order size and therefore offer an excellent value for larger orders.  For orders to Canada or outside the continental United States, please call us at 866-883-3366 to discuss delivery options and charges.
